Digestive Disease Center — International Trainee Program
1. Overview 2. Programs 3. Apply

The Digestive Disease Center at Itabashi Chuo General Hospital, an acute-care general hospital located in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, provides care for a wide range of digestive disorders — from diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and colon to hepatobiliary-pancreatic disease. Under a collaborative care system between the Departments of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Surgery, advanced endoscopic diagnosis and treatment — including ESD and ERCP — are performed as part of routine practice, allowing trainees to acquire practical knowledge and skills through a high volume of cases.

The training program offers observation of actual endoscopic examinations and treatments, along with case conferences and discussions with supervising physicians, providing an environment to systematically learn the Japanese approach to gastroenterology and endoscopic care. A key feature of the program is the opportunity to experience a wide range of cases, from routine care to emergency cases.

For physicians visiting from overseas, we offer flexible training programs tailored to each trainee's experience and objectives. With a wealth of clinical cases and a well-developed educational system, we provide a training environment where advanced Japanese gastrointestinal endoscopy can be learned in a practical, hands-on setting.
