Department of Gastroenterology (Endoscopy) — International Trainee Program
1. Overview 2. Programs 3. Apply

The Department of Gastroenterology (Endoscopy) at Kanagawa Cancer Center specializes in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, including cancers of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and colon. The department performs a large volume of advanced endoscopic procedures, including ESD for early-stage gastrointestinal cancer, and actively takes on complex cases deemed too difficult to treat at other institutions. Working in close collaboration with gastrointestinal surgery and radiation oncology, the department provides the optimal treatment plan for each individual patient.

The training program includes observation of endoscopic procedures centered on a large volume of ESD cases, along with conferences and discussions that allow trainees to learn the diagnostic and treatment strategies unique to a specialized cancer hospital. Endoscopy conferences are also conducted in English, providing an environment for learning advanced endoscopic care from an international perspective. Depending on interest, observation of ERCP, EUS-FNA, and surgical procedures is also available, allowing for broad clinical experience.

For physicians visiting from overseas, we offer flexible programs tailored to each trainee's objectives. In an environment where world-class endoscopic care for gastrointestinal cancer can be learned in a practical, hands-on setting, we support the acquisition of advanced knowledge and skills through a wealth of clinical cases and instruction from experienced supervising physicians.
